IKARIA HONEY

‘FROM THE LEGENDARY ANCIENT HEALING ISLAND’

IKARIA, GREECE—–A DESIGNATED BLUE ZONE

Ikaria is lavishly abundant with natural beauty and rare diversity. The indigenous Ikarian bee forages in this pristine environment and creates a unique, special, and extremely healthy honey.

The bees thrive in this distinctive habitat without any interference from humans throughout the year. The ninety-nine square mile island is divided in its centre by rugged mountainous terrain and possesses a wide variety of indigenous foliage. Just a few that have an impact on our honey are White Heather, Fall Heather, Greek Strawberry tree, Wild Lavender, Akoniza, Pine trees, Thyme and Wild Oregano. All of these contribute numerous health benefits.

Ikaria has no industrialisation nor conventional farming or large plantations due to its rough terrain. In consequence, pollutants are non-existent which in turn allows for exceptionally clean air, land and water. Our honey is thus free from chemicals, pesticides and/or herbicides. This is quite different from the great majority of the honey that is presently consumed world-wide.

The eco-conscious environment of Ikaria benefits the bees to maintain natures intelligence, and to produce naturally pure honey simply because of where its produced.

“A true feat considering the effects that bee colonies are suffering from world-wide”

“Honey from Ikaria contains anti-inflammatory, and anti-bacterial properties,” writes Dan Buettner, author of ‘Blue Zone and the Secrets to Living a Long Life’

In 2009, a research team of doctors and scientists were brought to the island of Ikaria which was organised by Blue Zone expert Dan Buettner and sponsored by BBC, National Geographic and AARP (American Association of Retired People) to find why the Ikarians live so long. They came away naming Ikaria as one of the five “Blue Zones” in the world for longevity. New York Times has an amazing article entitled “The island where people forget to die”.

The Ikarians treat their honey as their panacea and consume at least a teaspoon daily as part of their diet. They strongly believe it contributes to their good health and robust vitality. We know that Ikarian honey is special and rare due to the island’s key attributes…. the unique environment in which the indigenous bees gather their pollen and nectar. That’s why we are distributing it here in Australia.

“Discover and luxuriate in the honey from Ikaria, whose residents enjoy greater health and longevity than the rest of the world”
